Melbourne, like Sydney, is one of the oldest cities in Australia where the English settled down in early days. It provides high quality education service with many public schools in good environments. Public schools in Melbourne have high records of students entering prestigious universities such as Melbourne University or Monash University.

Eastern and southern suburbs are known to have top school zones: Kew, Camberwell, Mt. Waverley, Glen Waverley and McKinnon. Recently, many Asian students attend schools in these suburbs showing good academic achievement; you might get the impression that there are more Asian students than Australian students (see the following map).
