What is an Australian Foundation Course?
|
Australian
Foundation Course is a specialized pre-university year that gives
international students the opportunity to study selected Australian
Year 12 units so that they could complete the pre-requisites of their
aimed study in a university. It is not a language course but
comprehensive English instruction will be given when it is necessary.
During a foundation course, students are assessed
in the same way as in a university; this experience helps international
students understand the overall assessment system in an Australian
university. Also, as a student’s academic achievement during a
foundation year substitutes any other entrance exams or English test
results in the student’s admission assessment to a university, it
actually determines whether a student would be accepted or not by the
university.

Entry Requirements of Foundation Courses

Eligibility: Year 12 equivalents.
Required supporting documents:
academic transcripts (High school), certificate of graduation,
IETLS/TOEFL result.
If you do not have an IELTS/TOEFL result or your
result is below the set level/scores, you may consider completing a
language course to meet the English requirement alternatively.

Completion of a foundation course prior to a university
|
Admission assessment for a foundation course is mostly
based on the high school GPA and an English test result. However,
whether a student is accepted by a university is determined on the
basis of only the final average points after a foundation course.
Therefore, entering a foundation course does not guarantee a student a
confirmed place in a university. It is very important for students to
maintain higher points during a foundation course in order to go on to a
course in a university.
