Buying mobile phone

In Australia, there is 3 different mobile company which is Optusm Telstra, Vodafone, 3 mobile. You can search your friend's mobile company and choose your mobile.

Also mobile company has 2 types of paid system. One is pre-paid which is buying recharge card and using mobile with charging money. The other is 2 year contract(call plan) that is available who has more then 2 years student visa holder.

Tax File Number

If you want to work with student visa that permitted 40 hours per 2 weeks then you have to receive tax file number. It is for tax to government from your income.

You can apply your own tax file number at www.ato.gov.au. After apply, it takes 28 days then you can receive letter from tax office.

Open account

In Australia, 4 of banks are most popular banks so you can choose brand between Commonwealth Bank, National, ANZ, Westpac.

When you open account, you should bring your passport, student card or CoE, address, mobile number.

Receiving money from overseas

If you want to receive money from oversea, you should tell to your parents as below details.

Bank name, Bank Swift Code, Bank address, BSB(Brnach number, Account Number, Account name(normaly same name in passport)
